Missing 13-Year-Old Bakersfield Girl Found In Shafter

Parents Believed Daughter Went To Idaho To Meet Boy From MySpace

On Wednesday around 8 p.m., the missing 13-year-old girl who police believed had run away to Idaho, was located in the city of Shafter, Calif.

Alyssa Brandon was found to be safe and uninjured.

Police originally thought that Brandon had run away to Idaho to meet a 14-year-old boy she met on MySpace.

Brandon's parents told police that they found a note in her room stating that she's run away.

The family was able to locate telephone records and found the number returns to Jerome, Idaho, according to Detective Mary DeGeare.

On Monday, investigators contacted Amtrak and discovered that on Oct. 21, a 45-year-old white man standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes inquired about fares to Jerome, Idaho, which is the area investigators suspected Brandon was en route to, DeGeare said.

The unidentified man then took a taxi to Fresno, Calif., DeGeare said.

Brandon does have family in the Fresno area; however, they have indicated they are unaware of Brandon's whereabouts.

Investigation revealed that Brandon had been in Shafter with teenage friends since the day she ran away.

Brandon was returned home to her parents.
