Weekend H1N1 Clinic Goes Smoothly

Health Officials Enthusiastic About Turnout

POSTED: 10:09 pm PST November 1, 2009

Another H1N1 clinic took place in the Bakersfield area this weekend.

South High School was the site of Saturday morning's clinic, where thousands of people showed up for 1,300 H1N1 vaccinations.

People began lining up at 10pm Friday, while others showed up in the early morning hours Saturday.

Everything went smoothly as public health says they have the clinics down to a science and have even used them to help practice for potential disasters.

On the success of Saturday's clinic, health department officials will head north to North High School for a clinic that will run from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday.

The clinic is for the H1N1 shot, which means all groups are able to get it including children six months to 24 years of age, along with pregnant women, certain caregivers and healthcare workers.

And the health department will leave the Bakersfield metro area for the remaining two clinics scheduled with a mid-day clinic Wednesday in Ridgecrest at the Kerr McGee Center from 10am to 1pm.

And then an early afternoon clinic at Pine Mountain Club Friday from 2 pm to 4pm, though the exact location has not yet been specified.
