DELANO, Calif. -- Fears about spreading the flu are prompting one hospital to come up with a private entrance to their birthing center.Officials with Delano Regional Medical Center said it has been a long time coming, but starting Wednesday, their maternity ward will have a more secure entrance.Their goal was to make their birthing center its own department.
As a result of the private entrance, workers have increased security and will have more control of visitors.Workers said the new entrance will allow families to skip walking through aisles of sick people and reduce the risk of spreading infections.Workers said they're also in the middle of giving their birth rooms a makeover so they look more like the bedroom you would find in a home.
