39 Citations Given During "Click It or Ticket It" Operation

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- On Sunday the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail fielded additional traffic officers between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. targeting motorists not wearing their seatbelts.As a result of this enforcement event 39 total citations were issued to motorists for not wearing their seatbelts, 5 vehicles were impounded when the drivers were found to be unlicensed and ten (10) other motorists received citations for miscellaneous vehicle code violations, police said.Officers concentrated their efforts west of Hwy. 99.
The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic enforcement Detail will conduct these “Click it or Ticket It” enforcement events throughout this coming year.Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected drunk driver.
