BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- On Tuesday, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail conducted Click It or Ticket saturation patrol in Ming Ave and Chester Ave corridors.During this period a total of 8 additional officers focused their efforts to ensure that occupants of vehicles traveling on Bakersfield’s roadways are wearing their seatbelts.During this six hour period, officers conducted 134 traffic enforcement stops resulting in:
62 seat belt citations 1 citation for driving while unlicensed 6 citations for driving on a suspended license 6 citations for pedestrians “jaywalking” 8 citations for drivers having no proof of insurance 51 citations for various other vehicle code violations A total of 7 vehicles were impounded for being operated by drivers who did not have driver’s licenses. Each year dozens of Californians do not reach their holiday destinations after becoming involved in injury collisions while not wearing their vehicle’s safety belts. The Bakersfield Police Department wants to ensure that everyone makes it to their destination safely by reminding motorists to buckle up. If you do not “click it,” you will receive a “ticket.”Funding to support California’s Click It or Ticket campaign was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
