Highway 119 Open After Fatal Accident

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Highway 119 and the southbound Interstate-5 off-ramp to 119 have been reopened after an accident killed a person Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.There was dense fog in the area at the time of the crash.The driver of a big rig was turning from highway 119 onto I-5 when a pickup truck coming in the opposite direction also tried to turn onto the ramp, according to the CHP.
Officers said Michael Hancock, 53, who was driving the pickup, was going too fast in the fog and T-boned the big-rig, becoming trapped under one of the big rig's trailers.Hancock died at the scene.Officers said there was another multi-car crash on the 119 between I-5 and State Route 43.
