BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Kern High School District board has voted to issue preliminary layoff notices to 19 teachers, but it plans to rehire all of them.Due to changing school boundaries, some schools will need fewer teachers in certain subjects while other schools will need more, which means that teachers who are given a layoff notice from one high school will likely be re-hired at another campus.Approximately 170 KHSD teachers have been issued layoff notices in the past two years.
But personnel officials say due to retirements and resignations, all but one of them was rehired later in the year.Related
