BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- On Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail conducted Click It or Ticket enforcement patrol. During this period a total of 6 additional officers focused their efforts to ensure that occupants of vehicles traveling on Bakersfield’s roadways are wearing their seatbelts.During this eight hour period, officers conducted 124 traffic enforcement stops resulting in:71seat belt citations (Driver)
10 seat belt citations (Passengers)
3 child safety seat violations
3 citation for driving on a suspended license
2 unlicensed driver citations
5 vehicle impounds
25 citations for various other vehicle code violations
Each year dozens of Californians do not reach their destinations after becoming involved in injury collisions while not wearing their vehicle’s safety belts. The Bakersfield Police Department wants to ensure that everyone makes it to their destination safely by reminding motorists to buckle up.
