Kern Co. Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Burglary

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Kern County Sheriff’s Department says detectives are investigating allegations that an off-duty sheriff’s deputy stole items from an apartment in Oildale.The investigation, which began on March 13, revealed that Deputy Joshua White, 24, while off duty, entered his former girlfriend’s apartment without her permission and stole her personal property, the KCSD said.White's former girlfriend, Stephanie Gann, told detectives that White obtained a key to her apartment without her permission.
Gann said White used the key to enter her apartment and took a camera, prescription medications, and other miscellaneous items.White is a probationary sheriff's deputy and has been employed for the past 9 months.On Friday, detectives served a search warrant at White’s residence.During the search of White's residence, detectives said they located some of Gann’s stolen property.Recovered stolen property included a DVD movie and the key to her apartment, the KCSD reported.Detectives also located stolen military equipment that included a flight helmet, Kevlar helmet and body armor. The military equipment is valued in excess of $2,800.White was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
