Checkpoint Nabs 14 for DUI

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- More than a dozen people were arrested Friday night on suspicion of DUI at a downtown checkpoint.Friday night the BPD held a checkpoint in the 1900 block of 23rd Street downtown between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.More than 1,700 cars passed through the checkpoint where 19 drivers were asked to perform field sobriety tests.
Of those drivers, 13 of them were arrested and charged with DUI involving alcohol and one driver was arrested for DUI involving marijuana.One driver charged with DUI was also charged with possessing meth, while another was charged with cocaine possession.The checkpoint was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
