BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- This wasn't your average car wash on Saturday, as the off-duty Kern County firefighters used a hook and ladder truck to hose off cars at the Northwest Promenade to raise money for Relay for Life.Dozens of drivers rolled through the parking lot to experience the thrill of having a fire engine wash their car.All of the proceeds from the event go to next year's Relay for Life event, which benefits the American Cancer Society and goes toward research.
Kern County fire also used the opportunity to talk about fire safety both at home and in rural areas.
