A woman was found beaten to death in a home, and a suspect has been arrested.

Sgt. Mary DeGeare with the Bakersfield Police Department said that about 10:10 p.m. Sunday, officers received a 911 call from a homeowner in the 1100 block of Niles Street who reported a violent struggle taking place in a back room adjacent to the alley where a renter, Arturo Huerta, 59, lived.

The caller told police that there were sounds of a struggle, DeGeare said.

When officers arrived, they said they saw Huerta inside the kitchen through a window.

Huerta had blood on his arms and body, DeGeare said.

Officers detained Huerta inside, and found 37-year-old Acamea Coy, dead, with blunt force injuries to her head, DeGeare said.

Huerta was arrested on charges of murder and booked into the Kern County Jail.
