Korn Guitarist Finds New Calling In Bakersfield

POSTED: 12:09 p.m. PST February 28, 2005

Korn guitarist and founding member Brian Welch says he left "the life" for Jesus Christ.

Welch spoke to the congregation at Valley Baptist Fellowship Church on Feb. 27.

Close to 10,000 people packed the prayerhouse to listen to him speak.

Welch says he dedicated his life to God after finding no fulfillment in the music scene, while battling an addiction to methamphetimine.

"I came here on drugs; I couldn't stop, and He said, 'You will keep coming, you will keep seeking me,' and I said OK."

Welch also says his new focus is to "do positive things for the Lord and build skate parks for kids so they don't turn to drugs."

The band Korn is currently working on its next album, sans Welch, and is expected to be released in September.
