Boy Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run

POSTED: 10:18 a.m. PST March 31, 2005

A Bakersfield mother is pleading for the community's help in finding the driver who hit and seriously injured her son.

Shawn Jordan, 11, was crossing the street in the 300 block of Baker Street in east Bakersfield with his cousin at around 11:30 p.m. on March 19 when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the car stopped briefly before speeding away northbound on Baker Street.

Shawn was taken to Memorial Hospital with severe head trauma and other injuries.

He's on a respirator, and had brain surgery on March 30.

Police are searching for the driver of the car that hit the boy.

The driver is listed as a Hispanic male, between 20 and 30 years old, and clean shaven.

The vehicle is described as a white or silver SUV, possibly a GMC or Chevrolet, with tinted windows.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
