BAKERSFIELD -- The man who witnessed the fatal beating of a Downtown Jail prisoner said the incident made him sick.
An investigative document obtained by the Bakersfield Californian quotes Deputy Brian Carr in an interview he gave to homicide detectives.
Carr described the beating of James Moore by the deputies, including detention deputy Roxanne Fowler, who allegedly ran up and kicked Moore in the face twice while he was shackled.
He also reported hearing a voice yelling, "they're killing me."
Five deputies are charged in the beating, including three charged with murder.
