23Editorial: Call PETA And Tell Them To Get Lost

Airdate: Feb. 22

You check your oil to make sure your car's engine won't go kaflooey. But when it comes to checking fluids, 23ABC thinks the folks at PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, are about a quart low when it comes to common sense.

PETA is now protesting a small school in Kern County. The animal rights activists are all bent out of shape because an agriculture teacher at Rosamond High demonstrated how to castrate a pig -- but didn't give the pig a painkiller.

Castrating farm animals without painkillers is common. Farm experts say castration is a routine method of calming male animals, preventing them from breeding and improving meat quality. Those folks at PETA operate under the principle, and we quote: "Animals are not ours to eat."

So why is PETA picking on Rosamond? Because it's an easy target.

23ABC says PETA has caused enough trouble here in Kern County, and attacking Rosamond High School was the last straw. We urge you to pick up the phone and call PETA in Virginia at (757) 622-PETA.

Let these dipsticks know Kern County is tired of them and they can take their silly antics elsewhere.

That's our take. Now it's your turn.
