23Editorial: Candidate Air Time
Airdate: Mar. 16
The campaign season has barely begun and already at least one candidate has started slinging mud.Phil Wyman attacked Dr. Jean Fuller because she had school district employees set up a podium for her when she announced she's running for state assembly -- the same seat Mr. Wyman covets.Clearly Dr. Fuller made a mistake. But was it really as big a deal as Mr. Wyman wanted to make of it?
Here at 23ABC we think people are sick and tired of candidates pointing fingers at each other and filling our homes with attack ads.So we call on our local candidates for higher office to actually take the high road leading up to the June primary. No attack ads, no mudslinging, and no bull. Stick to the issues and your own qualifications. We believe so strongly in this call to action that 23ABC is offering local candidates for selected state and county offices the opportunity to tell voters why they should be elected. We'll let them do it on camera in their own words. We're sending letters to candidates with this offer to air their messages as part of our local newscasts. We'll offer each candidate equal time to bring his or her message to you the voter. We hope it will help inform you about the people who want your support. That's our take, now it's your turn.
