Buck Featured In New Children's Book
BAKERSFIELD -- Buck Owens: You don't know him, but you don't like him. At least, that's what he said in "Streets of Bakersfield." But now that the country music legend has a children's book written about him, Buck could soon have a much younger, more favorable audience.
The book "Freight Train Running" -- written by Linda Stacey -- was unveiled at Owens' Crystal Palace, with Owens there to receive the honors. The book is a biography of Buck's life before his stardom days and includes illustrations from actual photographs.
"He is a success story," said Sandra Yoon, editor of "Freight Train Running." "This is the type of story we want our students to see."
The Bakersfield City School District coordinated the production of the book as part of a fundraiser for the district's foundation.
