A Kern County committee is scheduled to meet Monday to begin planning the naming of a street after country music legend Merle Haggard.

The stretch of road to bear his name will be in Oildale, where Haggard's family moved during the Dust Bowl era.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the Standard School administration building at 1200 North Chester Avenue. The meeting is open to the public.
