A Water Park In Bakersfield?

Several Companies Vying For Project off Rosedale Highway

After years of throwing around the idea, it looks like the North of the River Recreation and Parks District is finally getting the ball rolling on a new water park in Northwest Bakersfield.

At Monday night's board meeting, members were presented with a proposal from one of the companies vying for the bid.

Joshua Hunter of Clearwater Water park Development LLC put together a slide show to help illustrate his company's plans for a 21 acre parcel on Rosedale Highway between Allen Road and Jeweta Road.

If Clearwater gets the bid, it plans to name the park "Bakersfield Splash Canyon."

The proposed park would be one of the largest water parks in the state.

NOR Marketing Director Roger Perez said he and the other boardmembers are excited about all the jobs and the revenue the park would bring to our city, but said it would also give kids training opportunities and offer a fun place for families to cool off during the hot summer.

The board will be hearing several more proposals from companies all around the nation within the next few months.
