Ailing sea lion found lounging at hotel: SeaWorld San Diego crews rescue sea lion pup

Female pup made its way to Pantai Inn patio

SAN DIEGO - SeaWorld's rescue team Tuesday rescued an ailing sea lion pup seen "lounging" in the patio of a La Jolla hotel.

SeaWorld San Diego officials said Shane Pappas, general manager of the Pantai Inn (1003 Coast Blvd.), contacted them after he was notified of the California sea lion's presence.

"I got an email saying that we had a sea lion pup lounging on our patio," said Pappas.

After checking the hotel's surveillance footage, Pappas said the pup "waddled his way up to the patio."

The female pup was taken to SeaWorld's Animal Care Complex and was fed through a tube and given rehydration fluids, SeaWorld officials said.

The pup will be examined once she has stabilized, SeaWorld officials said.
