School stalled at Fairfax Middle School after threat of crop dust

Mixture was lemon juice and sugar

BAKERSFIELD - Students at Fairfax Middle School were brought to the cafeteria and gymnasium after the threat of exposure to agricultural chemicals.

The superintendent said students were brought inside as a precaution after a teacher noticed a crop dusting plane near the school and smelled chemicals at about 7:20 a.m.

Kern County Fire responded and said there was no risk of exposure to the mixture, which was lemon juice and sugar, according to Brandon Hill.

School has resumed.

The principal told 23ABC the plane was dusting an organic onion field.
