Shooting leaves 3-year-old dead, 5-year-old and woman wounded

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE (4:55 p.m.): Family has identified the 3-year-old boy killed by gunfire as Major Sutton. They identified the 5-year-old who was struck as King Sutton, and family says he was shot in the hand.

Johniece Williams was identified as the mother of the two boys.

UPDATE (1:45 p.m.): Bakersfield Police said on Friday night just before midnight officer responded to reports of a shooting on 800 Pershing Street near 10th Street.

When officers arrived they found a pregnant woman, a 5-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy all suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Several Bakersfield Police officers gave the 3-year-old boy CPR, but he was later pronounced dead. 

The 5-year-old boy had minor injuries while the woman sustained moderate injuries. Police say she and her unborn baby are expected to survive. 

Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.
