CHP: 2 Killed In Car Crash

Two people are dead following a high-speed crash on the Golden State Highway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Originally it was stated that the vehicle was stolen, this has been corrected. The vehicle was not reported stolen.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday. The CHP said 30-year-old Silvia Fernandez was driving the white Toyota Camry and lost control slamming into a tree.

The CHP said the car was found wrapped around a tree off the shoulder of Golden State Highway where the road transitions onto Highway 99.

The CHP said Fernandez and 30-year-old Cesar Castro who was the passenger in the car, died at the scene.

The investigators believe the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred.
