SHIRLEY, N.Y. - Blame the Internet and negligent pet owners for alligators on Long Island.

Five abandoned gators have been found in Long Island, New York, communities over 10 days.

The latest was early yesterday, when a 3-foot-long American alligator was left outside of an Applebee's.

Roy Gross, the chief of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said it's too easy to buy the reptiles online.

As the gators get bigger, Gross say the owners realize they're too large to handle.

The SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the latest gator case.
