WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - It's a fuss over floss. Some New York prisoners are suing Westchester County for $500 million, in a fight to get dental floss.

But jail officials say there's more at stake than oral hygiene. There are security issues, too.

Officials say dental floss has been used in escape attempts and even as a weapon.

By some accounts, toothpaste-coated-floss has been used to cut through cell bars. Ropes made of braided floss have been made by would-be escapees from Maryland to Wisconsin.

Westchester County has offered the prisoners short floss loops instead.
