A public memorial service has been set for the late country music backup singer and wife of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.
The public service for Bonnie Owens will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Mortuary Southwest in Bakersfield.
Bonnie Owens died Monday at Glenwood Gardens after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 76.
Her death came weeks after Buck Owens passed away on March 25.
Born Bonnie Campbell, she met Buck Owens in Mesa, Ariz. in the mid- 1940s when she was a teenager and he had a local radio show. They married a year later, had two sons and separated in the early 1950s. She married another Bakersfield country music star, Merle Haggard, in 1965. She and Haggard won the best vocal group award from the Academy of Country Music that year for their rendition of "Just Between the Two of Us."
