A recent Garces High School graduate died over the weekend after partying with a Fresno State University fraternity.According to Fresno police, Philip Dhanens, 18, died Sunday after a night of drinking at the Theta Chi off-campus fraternity house.Dhanens' mother told ABC news her son was only two weeks into his freshman year at Fresno state and had just started the pledging process for Theta Chi.The fraternity held a party Friday night after a formal dinner at their house. Dhanens' mother said she received a call from St. Agnes Medical Center and hospital staff told her Dhanens suffered severe brain damage.University officials sent out a release Sunday night stating that the Theta Chi fraternity is now barred from any official campus activities until the investigation is complete.Fresno State officials said counselors are being provided for students and Theta Chi is cooperating with the police investigation.
