The seventh generation of the car

DETROIT, Mich. - General Motors has announced that the first of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupes are heading to dealer showrooms.

The highly anticipated sports car left the assembly plant at Bowling Green, Ohio today. Approximately 1,000 of the vehicles are on their way and should be delivered to dealers in the next few weeks.

Three-Way Chevy in Bakersfield is expecting to have the coupes in stock in October or November.

“It’s an amazing sight to see the transporters filled with Stingrays heading to customers in all corners of the country,” Dave Tatman, plant manager of General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly plant said in a news release. “The pride at Bowling Green is overwhelming and it shows in the tremendous quality and attention to detail going into each one of these new Corvettes.”

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is the seventh generation of the sports car, which has been exclusively built at the Bowling Green plant since June of 1981.

Production on the convertible version begins later this year.
