A 275-pound African lion at the Oaklawn Farm Zoo in Nova Scotia has taken up ice hockey as his new favorite hobby.
Sterk’s zoo keeper said he is a superstar at soccer in the summer, but this is the first time he’s been on the ice.
"He's a little older now and we're always looking for new things to keep them entertained," his zoo keeper, Maria Weinberg, told GoodMorningAmerica.com of the 15-month-old feline. "We took out the sticks and the ball and started shooting around on the frozen ice and he was having a blast."
The recent freezing temperatures caused the pond in Sterk’s enclosure to completely freeze over, opening up a world of potential for new games and activities.
Sterk was born in Canada and arrived at the zoo a year ago. His name means "strong" in Dutch.
