Homicide detectives have removed a human head and skeletal remains from a home in an East Bakersfield country club neighborhood.

Detectives were called out about 5:45 p.m. Sunday to the 4200 block of Country Club Drive, at the Bakersfield Country Club.

Ray Pruitt with the Kern County Sheriff's Department said the couple who was living at the home were in medical facilities in the Los Angeles area.

Their two daughters went to their home in Bakersfield to clean out the home.

While searching, deputies said the two women said they found the remains in the home, that deputies described as, 'quite old.'

"(The daughters) initially believed that the remains were possibly related to (their father's) medical practice, so they simply threw them in the dumpster," said Lt. Steve Hansen with the sheriff's department. "Upon second thought, they decided to call us. We have located the remains, and the coroner has seized them."

Deputies said that as of Monday, there is no word as to who the homeowners are or if any arrests have been made.

23ABC spoke with officials at the home and they said they've also found a human head and a skeletal body in the garage.
