A puppy fell 80 feet off a cliff in California and survived. 

Lifeguards rescued the 3-month-old Chihuahua-mix on Friday when it fell near Sunset Cliffs in San Diego. 

The lifeguards said they believe someone was walking the pup...

...and abandoned the animal when it fell.

The puppy has broken ribs and suffered some head trauma.

The puppy was taken to an animal hospital.

He's getting lots of rest...

...and is said to be doing well.
