A Detroit man told police he kept his 93-year-old father's body in a freezer in his home because he was awaiting God's resurrection.

Around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, police found a casket that went missing from a cemetery Monday inside a white van.

Shortly after, they located the body inside a freezer at the home of the deceased man's 48-year-old son.

Sources told WXYZ-TV that funeral services were held for the 93-year-old man on Saturday. The body was to be buried on Sunday, but rainy weather kept workers from digging the plot at the Gethsemane Cemetery.

The body and casket were stored in the mausoleum for protection. On Monday, when workers returned to complete the burial, they discovered both were missing.

WXYZ-TV reported that it is withholding the names of both the father and son, pending any criminal charges. In some cases, disinterment of a body is a crime. At this time, no charges have been filed.
