NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) -

North Las Vegas officials say they're looking for a man accused of beating his wife with a vacuum cleaner in an attack that later proved fatal.

Police say they obtained an arrest warrant earlier this month for 37-year-old Anthony Tyron Mayo. Authorities say he has family in Southern California and may be in the San Diego, Los Angeles or Palmdale areas.

North Las Vegas police say they responded Aug. 10, 2012, to a home on Matinee Avenue. They say 40-year-old Beverly McFarlane told them her husband had strangled her before hitting her on the head with a vacuum cleaner two days earlier.

McFarlane was taken to University Medical Center and treated for a brain injury, but died two weeks later.

Mayo now faces charges of murder, coercion and domestic battery.
