Local Farmer Gives Land For NASCAR

Destefani: Future Track 'Something Everyone Will Be Proud Of'

The Destefanis planted the seeds for this racing venture on farming land that's been in the family for 60 years.

He decided to donate the land to use for a NASCAR track.

Mel Destefani, 81, can be found on the construction site every day, sometimes taking his truck out for a quick lap where the future track will be built.

The farmer with a love for racing said he had to think about the project when his son Alan first approached him about transforming farmland into a racetrack.

Now, one year from harvest, Destefani said it's all been worth it.

Destefani said, "It's been a long process getting this whole thing going. Evidently it's together, it's a beautiful sight, something everyone will be proud of."
