1 Bakersfield man dead, 2 injured in car crash on Brundage Lane

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A local man is dead after his car slammed into a pole last night.
On Feb. 20, shortly before midnight, officers with the Bakersfield Police Department went to Brundage Lane regarding a car crash.
After investigating, officials said that a 1995 Saturn SL was traveling on Brundage Lane, when the car ran off the road and crashed into a telephone pole.
According to officials, the driver, 21-year-old Dylan Paul Handy, died at the scene.
Officials said the two passengers in the vehicle, who were identified as 21-year-old Francisco Verni and 20-year-old Albert Hernandez were taken by Hall Ambulance to Kern Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers with the BPD said no other vehicles were involved.
The cause of the collision and whether drugs or alcohol were a factor is still under investigation.
