16th Senate District candidates to have first debate in Bakersfield's downtown Marriott Hotel

Debate begins at 7 p.m.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The local candidates in the running to replace Michael Rubio met in downtown Bakersfield during their first debate.

The 16th Senate District debate was held Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m., at the Marriott Hotel.

Republican Andy Vidak, Democrats Leticia Perez, Francisco Ramirez Jr., and Pauline Miranda, and Peace and Freedom Party candidate Mohammad Arif attended and showcased and explained why they would be the best person for the seat.

The primary election for the seat is on May 21, with a possible run-off on July 23.
