2 arrested for burglarizing eldery victim's home

Suspects booked in Ridgecrest Jail

RIDGECREST, Calif. - Two suspects were arrested for burglarizing an elderly victim's home on Thursday.

An elderly woman returned to her house at about 11:20 a.m. on W. Perch Ave after being gone for a couple hours and discovered the front window had been forced open and about $5,000 in jewelry had been stolen out of her bedroom, officials said.

Within a few minutes, deputies said they received information which led them to a house on W. St. George Ave. 

At about 11:55, deputies said they searched 1304 W. St. George and retrieved all of the stolen jewelry, along with narcotics and burglary tools.

The residents, Janis Cupp and Rhonda Lechner were both arrested on charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, financial elder abuse, possession of burglary tools, and possession of paraphernalia.

Both subjects were booked into the Ridgecrest Jail.
