TAFT, Calif. - Arson is investigating a Taft house fire this afternoon.

On March 22, at about 11:00 a.m., firefighters with the Kern County Fire Department went to Franklin Avenue in Taft regarding a house fire.

Officials said the fire seems to have appeared in the backyard and then made it's way to the house.

Nobody was home at the time, according to officials.

Officials said two dogs were saved from the home, but one dog and one cat were lost to the fire.

KCFD officials have ruled the fire as suspicious and arson is investigating.
