BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - On Friday, volunteers from the Bakersfield Search and Rescue were roving in the area of Hart Park and Lake Ming when they were flagged down and notified of two missing subjects in the Kern River.
Jamie Cool, 24 and Austin Jett, 23 had been tubing in the Kern River from Lake Ming towards Hart Park and were reported to be an hour over due.
Search and Rescue members began responding to lookout points along the river in an attempt to locate the subjects.
The subjects were spotted near Gordon's Ferry approaching the Gate 28 Weir on Chevron lease property. Search members were able to get the subjects out of the river before they reached the weir, which can be a drowing hazard.
Neither subject was injured and they did not require any medical attention.
