BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Three people are in the hospital after a driver failed to yield and collided into another vehicle.

23-year-old Vanessa Ortegon was traveling westbound on East Wilson Road, when she continued to make a left turn onto southbound SR-184.

Ortegon failed to yield the right of way to 29-year-old Sylvia Espinosa, who was traveling northbound on SR-184.

Espinosa braked, but was unable to avoid colliding with the left rear of Ortegon's Chevrolet Malibu.

Ortegon and the two children in her vehicle, Damian, 7, and 4-year-old Adrian, were taken via Hall Ambulance to Kern Medical Center.

The children were not wearing a seatbelt and sustained major injuries.

Espinosa had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
