BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - California state officials say that although violent crimes slightly increased last year, crime rates are still at historic lows. The annual Crime in California report was released this weekend.
The report shows there were more than 160,000 violent crimes in 2012. That is a 3% increase since 2011.
The yearly report is based on data from police and sheriff's departments.
