BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A 3-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a broken leg after a driver slammed into him with their car and took off, officials said.
At about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers with the Bakersfield Police Department were sent to Haley Street near Pacific Street regarding a hit-and-run crash.
Officers said a witness told them that the driver a 1990's 4-door compact car hit a 3-year-old boy who was walking on Haley Street.
Officers said that the vehicle did not stop, but continued northbound on Haley Street, and was last seen turning eastbound on Flower Street.
The boy was taken to a local hospital by private means prior to officers arriving on scene. He suffered a broken leg and abrasions, but his injuries are not life threatening, officers said.
This investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is urged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
