30 veterans take trip to see memorials they fought for

Dozens of veterans take honor flight to see D.C.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Friday morning 30 hometown heroes began the trip of a lifetime.

Kern County's chapter of Honor Flight took it's fourth flight in less than a month with local veterans all thanks to community donations.

The national organization sends veterans to D.C. to see the memorials they risked their lives for, free of charge.

23 ABC spoke with veterans as they boarded the flight.

"I can't believe the outpouring of goodwill from the citizens of Kern County to see that we make this trip. It's a real honor to be selected" WWII Victor Killingsworth said.

If you'd like to welcome home are local veterans they land at Meadows Field Sunday night at 9:30 and 10:30.
