4 arrested on chop shop charges in Central, East Bakersfield in one week

Two different cases, one suspect missing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Four suspects were arrested on chop shop charges this week in two different cases.

 

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, the Kern County Auto Task Force assisted the Kern County Probation Department with a parole search at 724 N Street. 

During the search officials said they found three motorcycles, a 2007 Yamaha, a 2006 Kawaski, and a 2004 Suzuki. All three were reported stolen.

Officials also found three utility trailers with missing or defaced Vehicle Identification Numbers. 

32-year-old Jeremy Richard Johnston and 35-year-old Casey James Abercrombie were arrested on chop shop, possession of stolen vehicle, and conspiracy charges. Both are also active parolees. 

 

On Friday, Nov. 9, two suspects were arrested in an unrelated chop shop case at 1800 Padre Street in East Bakersfield.

Officials said two vehicles were found on the property that had previously been reported stolen.

Officials are still searching for a third suspect.
