BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Local high school students who have shown leadership in their student government got a chance at the real thing on Wednesday.

Four students from each local high school got a chance to feel what it's like to walk in the shoes of a city employee.

Students shadowed city leaders in the police department, fire department, parks and recreation, and technology and finance.

The program is offered annually and is organized by The City of Bakersfield.
