Four women were arrested and charged with stealing tangerines near Maricopa, according to reports.

On Saturday, March 9, deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Office went to the Highway 166 and Basic School Road area after a security guard said he suspected tangerines were being stolen.

Deputies said they then made a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle as it fled the scene and found the four suspects, as well as 40 pounds of citrus and two tote bags used by pickers.

The four suspects were of the same family.  All were charged with grand theft of produce.
