WELDON, Calif. - The US Geological Survey reported a 4.2-magnitude earthquake 12 miles south of Weldon, 25 miles northeast of Tehachapi on Sunday at 11:50 a.m.
"It hit Weldon hard. I have never heard an earthquake that sounded like an explosion," said Connie Cryts, a Weldon resident.
California City Police Department officials reported that two tremors were felt, one at 11:50 and another at 11:59 a.m. They said no damage was reported there.
