BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - As the cost of school supplies continues to rise, Thursday morning you have the chance to save some serious cash.
The 4th annual Ready-Set Back-to-School Health and Wellness Fair is being hosted by the Kern County Department of Child Support Services at Central Park off 19th Street from 9am to noon.
Organizers say more than 2,500 backpacks and school supplies will be given away along with free haircuts and required immunizations.
According to Huntington National Bank's annual backpack index, the cost of school supplies has gone up 7.3% since last year.
Organizer's suggest you get there early because supplies will go fast.
