BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An annual 4th of July tradition kicked off Friday morning in the Westchester area.
Dozens of people turned out for the annual Independence Day Parade and block party donning red white and blue.
The Grand Marshall of today's parade was 102-year-old Ross Thorton.
Organizers said the parade is a way for the community to get out and meet one another.
The block party has been a neighborhood tradition since 1989.
